How are you still single?! You do want to get married, right? So what kind of a person are you looking for anyway? If you've been single for any length of time, then chances are you've been asked all of these questions and more by your married family, friends and fellow church members. No doubt they mean well, but they probably haven't thought through what their questions might actually be saying. "You're missing something! You're incomplete! You need to get married to be more effective in serving God!" are all things that singles have heard and felt from the probings of the married people around them.
Let's be clear. The end goal is not supposed to be marriage; it's Christ! Our identity shouldn't be defined by our relationship status, but by the fact that we're in Christ. In this short sermon series we look at the gift of both singleness and marriage, and the call of Christ that is the same for every one of us, regardless of your relationship status. Struggling with your singleness? Plateaued in your marriage? Check out this two part series!
